Clients Put Planning Skills into Practice with Museum Day Out

Date: 5th June 2026

Despite the rainy weather, our clients were determined not to let the showers spoil their plans for a day out. After discussing different ideas together, the group decided they would like to visit the Folkestone Museum and took the lead in planning the trip from start to finish.

Before the outing, clients worked alongside staff to complete the risk assessment and carefully plan the day. They used their executive functioning skills to consider transport options, decide on a meeting point, and think about everything they would need to bring with them. This was a fantastic opportunity to put into practice the cognitive strategies and skills they have been developing at our Hub.

The group met at the popular Grind and Bake café before their museum visit, where they enjoyed a hot drink and received a warm welcome from the wonderful staff. With the rain continuing outside, it was the perfect way to start the day.

Afterwards, everyone headed to the Folkestone Museum to explore its fascinating exhibits. The museum's free entry made it an accessible and enjoyable activity, allowing clients to learn more about local history and culture while spending quality time together.

Following the museum visit, the group returned to Grind and Bake for lunch, taking the opportunity to relax, chat about what they had seen, and reflect on the success of the day.

The outing was a great example of how clients are applying the planning, organisation, problem-solving, and decision-making skills they have been learning through our services. By taking an active role in organising the trip, they demonstrated confidence, independence, and teamwork—showing that these strategies can be successfully transferred into real-life situations.

Well done to everyone involved for making the day such a success, rain and all!
