On 26th April, our Head of Operations, Hayley, took on the incredible challenge of running the London Marathon—covering an impressive 26.2 miles—in support of Headway Kent.
After being fortunate enough to secure a ballot place, Hayley chose to turn this personal achievement into an opportunity to give back, dedicating her run to raising funds for our charity. Thanks to her efforts, she has raised just over £1,000 so far, plus Gift Aid, and we are hugely grateful for her commitment and generosity.
Taking on a marathon is no small feat. It requires months of dedicated training, perseverance, and determination. We are incredibly proud of Hayley not only for crossing the finish line, but for the hard work and discipline she showed in the lead-up to the event.
Reflecting on the day, Hayley shared some of her highlights from the route, including the uplifting atmosphere created by steel bands and rock choirs, chatting with ABI survivors along the way, and seeing the amazing and often creative outfits worn by fellow runners.
Hayley said, “It was tough, but knowing how ABI survivors have to face tough days was motivation to keep going.”
When asked if she would take on the marathon again, her response was: “It’s a maybe!” (And we all know that’s not a no.)
We would like to say a heartfelt thank you to Hayley for her outstanding achievement and for supporting Headway Kent in such an inspiring way.
