We’re thrilled to be developing a new accessible community allotment in Barham as part of our ongoing commitment to support adults living with acquired brain injury (ABI) in Kent. Thanks to the generous support of The Fifth Trust, we’ve secured a peaceful rural plot that will soon bloom into a therapeutic space for growth, recovery and connection.
But we need your help to get it off the ground.
Our Grow Well with Headway allotment project offers people affected by brain injury a chance to reconnect with nature, learn new skills, and be part of something meaningful. Gardening has proven benefits for brain injury rehabilitation, including improved mental wellbeing, reduced isolation, and enhanced physical coordination.
Light gardening and maintenance
Watering, planting and harvesting
Accessible garden design ideas
One-to-one support with our members
Occasional DIY or construction tasks
Or just lending a friendly hand!
Whether you're a seasoned gardener or just enjoy being outdoors, your time could make a huge difference to someone’s recovery journey.
Just a short drive from Canterbury, the Barham site is calm, quiet, and surrounded by greenery — the perfect setting for rehabilitation and reflection. We aim to make the space fully inclusive and disability-friendly, with raised beds, sensory planting, and accessible pathways.
